on Saturday December 4, 2004

This event was sponsored by Palm Island Resort to benefit the
Charlotte County Chapter of the American Red Cross
who was raising money to assist them in their continuing efforts
to help the victims of Hurricane Charley.

The Charlotte County Chapter of the American Red Cross
is the smallest chapter in Florida, and was also the hardest hit.

My day began early with a visit to Palm Island Marina in Placida where they were
setting up for the Taste of the Islands event. Above are some of the items being offered for sale
of which the profits would be donated to the Red Cross. These items included Salt water taffy,
ceramic turtles, and a locally prepared BBQ-sauce. And I offered them a few of my beautiful
19 Relaxing Tropical Island Sunset's on video's to sell. (which are now available at the
Englewood Chamber of Commerce and Boca Grande Lighthouse Museum
if your looking for a great Xmas gift)

The American Red Cross had a booth with literature about many life saving subjects... including this lifelike
mannequin to teach CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resusitation) and this AED (Automatic Electronic Defibrillator)
that actually talks you through all the steps required to shock someone back to life. Cool !

As I walked around from vendor to vendor, I found some of my old friends and made some new...
These photos are from the booth of Jim Davis who owns "Stained Glass One" on Placida Road
where you can go and learn to make stained glass windows in just a few lessons. They supply all the glass
and tools and instruction. You just have to show up to learn. Jim also makes this dicroic glass jewelry.

Representitives from the Humane Society were there with information about adoptions
and promoting the open house they were having on San Casa Drive at the same time...
which is where I went directly after this event.

Further down the path, I met the owners of the Artistic Gourmet. They had a large variety
of cutlery and other kitchen products inluding sauces, spices and decorative items.

Originals Arts & Furnishings was also there with a very nice collection of metal wall hangings as well as
some very detailed and lifesized stand up versons. You can find them in their brand new shop at
6475 San Case Dr. in Englewood.

Fabulous Flooze & Flip Flops - Knitting for Knowledge
had hand knit scarves and decoratice flops for sale whose profits benefit
