The Hibiscus Festival

The Hibiscus Festival in Punta Gorda Florida was a combination of many different
events in the same area... on the same day.

Out of the choices above, I photographed what I thought would be the most interesting to
those who would visit my photo web pages... so I chose to photograph
"The Little Miss Hibiscus Pageant" at the Women's Club in the morning,
followed by the Home & Garden Show at the Memorial Auditorium right after.
I then went on to the Hibiscus Festival activities in Gilchrist Park in the afternoon.
It was quite a day, but I enjoyed every moment of capturing all the beauty that I found.
And by creating these photo web pages, I hope that you can enjoy it also.

I arrived at the Punta Gorda Women's Club at 118 Sullivan Street about 9:30 am

In the next 20 minutes, the room filled  almost to capacity
.

while the young contestants who would be going on stage first, fidgeted in their seats.

Emcee, Ashley Wester then took the stage to get the pageant started.
Ashley said she was involved with the pageant circuit when she was much younger
and is now a singer in the group "The Boogiemen" who sing locally, as well as
a regional retail manager for a telecommunications company.

These were the judges for the Pageant.
Sorry,  I didn't get their names... and only a few seconds to even get their picture
